Cyprus Watersports
Parasailing in Cyprus...The Ultimate High

There's no feeling quite like it, floating 500 ft above the Mediterranean.

Its early autumn and the beaches are still heaving. Angled between sea and sky, hands gripping the harness, the instructor and craft become a distant object. This little aerial adventure is certainly one way to experience the Cyprus watersports on offer.

On the South East Coast of Cyprus, Fig Tree Beach in Protaras, Parasails can be seen dotted all over the horizon.

That initial rush of anxiety soon turns to tranquility after launch. That feeling of defying gravity, feet dangling against the cool sea air breeze and the parachute flapping in the wind. You could hear the distant drone of speedboats skimming the ocean, but not much else. The panoramic view was nothing short of spectacular and the sea sparkled like a turquoise blanket under the blazing sun.

Cyprus Watersports - Parasailing

A good half hour of fun is spent out in the Med. Roughly fifteen minutes spent cruising in the high powered craft, sourcing that perfect launch spot. A further 15 minutes spent afloat in the air, taking in peaceful birdseye views of the bay. The landing having the same thrill factor as being in the air, the instructor slowing down his engine. Dipping you in the sea before landing safely back to deck.

Almost anyone, at any age can experience this stimulating Cyprus watersport. You can do this alone or try the tandem flight with a partner, or even the triple flight with friends. The cost of parasailing Cyprus depends on the number of people. You're talking around 35 Euro for one person, 60 Euro for two people and 50 Euro for an Adult with a child under 12. Weather permitting and off you go.

Parasailing is also known as parascending and has been around for more than 25 years. It is a recreational activity where a person is towed behind a vehicle (usually a boat or craft) while attached to a specifically designed parachute, known as a parasail. The instructor then drives off in the boat, carrying the parascender into the air. The first Parasails were developed by Pierre-Marcel Lemoigne in 1961. However, Mark McCulloch of Miami, Florida is the original inventor of modern day parasailing equipment.

In 1973, McCulloch introduced the worlds first Stationary Parasailing Platform. His most successful invention was the Wangboat, which he patented in 1976 and made its commercial debut in the 1980's. Today nearly all commercial operators use winch boats equipped with a Power-take-off (PTO), which uses the boat's engine to drive a hydraulic winch. The combination of these two designs ushered in the era of widespread commercial parasailing. And parasailing has been a popular watersport ever since.

There's a wealth of superior beaches in Cyprus with plenty of instructors. So, if you're looking for that ultimate high associated with Cyprus watersports, then Parasailing in Cyprus could be your answer.
