Kapparis Info
Everything You Need to Know about This Popular Little Village

Here you will find all the Kapparis info for your next Cyprus Holiday....Kapparis is a peaceful but popular little village, just outside Protaras. Sometimes known as Little Britain. This is due to the number of British expats living there now. Many of them making the Island their home, as well as the Europeans. As well as the numerous holiday makers who frequent this popular holiday spot.

The Up and Coming Village of Kapparis

Kapparis has something else none of the other resorts can match. This, I found out being a frequent traveller and holiday home owner in Cyprus. It's recently developed into an all year round resort. So no matter what time of year it is, it's always a hive of activity. Yes, that means bars, shops and restaurants are open out of season.

And it's only a 10 minutes drive from Protaras. Ok, it may be a little quieter during the Festive Period but that's to be expected. It's not quite up there with Protaras yet, but give it time. Every year I've been out, there's always at least one new restaurant or bar opening up. Last year it was Folio Restaurant. This year it looks as if another new establishment is opening between Lounge Bar and Kennedy's Pub.

Kapparis Info - Restaurants and Cafe's

There is plenty of choice when it comes to restaurants and cafe's in Kapparis. In high season, you could eat somewhere different every day for a whole fortnight! It's one of the reasons why holiday makers make repeat visits to this neck of the woods and why tourists fall in love with Cyprus in the first place. The cuisine is second to none.

Anyway, you don't have to spend a fortune in Kapparis either. You can have a hearty breakfast including a beverage for the measly sum of 5 Euros. Corner Pin is one of the cafe's that does such a deal. This is my number one for a good old English fry up.

Don't stress about missing your home comforts either. A good few places do Sunday Roasts, Lounge Bar and Corner Pin being a good couple of examples.

If you're looking for something more traditional, then Karas Tavern would be your answer. Comes highly recommended by the 'Time Out - Cyprus' Eating Guide (2009 Edition). I had the Kleftico which was my first real taste of Cypriot food on the Island. Fell off the bone, really hit the spot.

Last but not least, do you fancy something a little more gourmet? Well, the likes of Faliros, Just Italian, Folio and China House would address those tastes. Good quality food and service await you.

Kapparis Info - Bars

There's plenty of bars sprinkled along the Kennedy Avenue. The bulk of them show premiership football, golf, tennis etc, good examples being the Pig and Whistle, Wooden Crest, Kennedy pub and Corner Pin. Most of these same bars have live entertainment at the weekends also. If you just fancy chilling out with a cocktail or a relaxing drink with your other half, then Bar Divino or Mello would be your answer. If you fancy a game of pool then Mello, Corner Pin and Wooden Crest would keep you happy.

Kapparis Info - Beaches

Kapparis hosts a couple of really nice beaches, Fireman's Beach and Malamo Beach. Firemans is just across the road from Faliros Restaurant and Malamo is opposite Folio Restaurant on the Kennedy Avenue. Both are perfect for families with young children, due to the water being shallow enough and the beach being very compact. Try your hand at some of the watersports on offer at Malamo Beach or fire up a bbq in Fireman's Beach. Do take advantage of the numerous hidden coves and coastal foot paths peppered around the bay.

Famagusta Mini Zoo

The Famagusta Mini Zoo is about 5 minutes drive from Faliros Restaurant or Firemans Beach. It's basically at the very end of the Kennedy Avenue. You'll see a very overgrown road in front, once very popular in the early 1970's for driving to Famagusta. Obviously this is sealed off now. Take a right and follow the dirt track into the mini zoo.

After viewing the animals, you'll be intrigued by all the pre and post 1974 memorabilia. Some of it very harrowing. Here you can stand on the Famagusta gulf viewpoint and observe the remarkable but eerie Famagusta ghost town in the distance. You can actually see the Cypriot watchtower and the UN post, quite surreal and chilling really.

Kapparis, the Ideal Holiday Destination?

Kapparis is untouched and unspoilt compared to the overcrowding in some resorts. It's a small village where the community is very friendly, where they make time for holiday makers. The atmosphere is very relaxed and laid back which makes it the ideal place for a chill out and get away from it all holiday.
