Bathroom Renovation Spotlight: How to Create a Serene Aesthetic

Bathroom Renovation Spotlight: How to Create a Serene Aesthetic

Often inspired by ‘a day spa’ aesthetic, a serene bathroom renovation evokes a minimalist and calming palette that transforms a bathroom into a haven. The serene bathroom design conjures clean, classic, and incredibly relaxing feelings, resulting in a breathtakingly tranquil finish.

With a harmonising colour palette, standout wood features combined with good quality marble, Novale’s recent bathroom renovation in Newcastle generates a sense of poise inside this suburban home and screams the serene aesthetic.

To give you some bathroom renovation ideas, we’ve broken down how the elements in this serene bathroom renovation work to inspire your dream bathroom renovation.

Glass Shower Screen

While glass shower screens are no longer a one-size-fits-all option, with many curved or geometric designs and stunning metallic or coloured frames available, but for a serene aesthetic, a totally frameless shower screen was ideal for this bathroom renovation Newcastle.

A frameless shower is composed of thick and unobstructed glass, secured to the wall with unobtrusive metal clamps for a minimalist aesthetic. Plus, since the whole glass panel is visible, there are no tight corners for dirt to build up, making frameless shower screens quick and straightforward to clean.

A glass shower screen gives a clean, light, and uncomplicated aesthetic in a bathroom. The uncluttered glazing of frameless shower screens opens the room up and allows more light in. As there is no need for empty floor space to allow for the door’s trajectory without a shower door, making the area appear and feel larger in this bathroom renovation Newcastle.

Frameless shower screens don’t fight for attention with other design components in a bathroom, which is a valuable bathroom renovation idea for smaller spaces. The glass shower screen in this bathroom renovation Newcastle allows other material choices and defining features in the room to stand out, like the eye-catching bathroom vanity and mirror with wood features.

Eye-Catching Bathroom Vanity & Mirror with Wood Features

The overabundance of bathroom vanity materials makes choosing the ideal one a bit of a brain twister. Luckily since bathroom surfaces aren’t subjected to the same level of abuse as kitchen surfaces, homeowners can focus more on aesthetics and price than strength.

For a warm and natural appeal, wood is hard to beat as this versatile raw material makes a stunning bathroom renovation idea with any decor.

Surrounding a plain mirror with a beautiful frame is a unique bathroom renovation idea with unlimited possibilities. In this bathroom renovation Newcastle, the clean lines are echoed in the modest yet beautiful wooden mirror. With a custom-built mirror, valuable storage is created by using the dead space from behind ordinary mirrors.

Chrome Tapware

Choosing a finish for tapware and fixtures is a difficult task for many homeowners. As a helpful bathroom renovation idea, it’s best to acquire all fixtures and accessories in the same material and finish for a consistent colour scheme throughout the space. Some finishes, such as chrome and most brushed-nickel finishes, have a standard colour, but not all finishes from various firms appear the same.

Chrome tapware was a no-brainer for creating a serene aesthetic in this bathroom renovation Newcastle. The timeless style of silver creates a clean and long-lasting tapware finish and makes coordinating other bathroom accessories and fixtures easy as chrome goes with everything!

Mixing Materials

To give this bathroom renovation Newcastle depth and intrigue, the designers mixed a variety of natural materials. The mixture of materials serves as a focal point with contrasting and complementing wood features, marble stone tiles, chrome, and plenty of plants for a pop of colour.

The coldness of the polished metal and marble tiles contrasts with the warmth of the wood basin. The straight lines of the bespoke wood vanity provide a warm touch whilst complimenting the rounded metal features. While black and grey accents give a touch of industrial style to this serene scheme.

Usually, metal tapware, mirrors and sinks stick out like a sore thumb, but our designers were careful in this bathroom renovation Newcastle and chose round features to create a more subtle aesthetic.

Bathroom Renovations for Heritage Homes in Sydney

Bathroom Renovations for Heritage Homes in Sydney

A heritage-listed home is a property or building that has been identified by your state/territory and local government as having a historical or cultural value that is worth conserving for future generations.

State/territory and local authorities will have different rules for what homeowners can and can’t do with a heritage-listed house. Although, in general, the rules typically concentrate around conserving the property’s style and look, particularly the front façade and any original elements, as well as maintaining a balance between the old and modern.

Even though bathroom renovations have no limitations in heritage-listed homes, a vintage-inspired aesthetic for your bathroom will enhance the house’s original charm and perfectly compliment the remarkable exterior.

Our expert design teams at Novalé have bathroom inspirations to suit everyone in any location. From heritage bathroom renovations Coogee to vintage bathroom renovations Penrith, Novalé bathrooms has decades of experience ensuring vintage dreams come to fruition.

Vintage Bathroom Renovation Coogee – Case Study

Novalé Bathrooms had the privilege to design and renovate three vintage bathrooms in this Coogee home resulting in a good mix of old and new features. Each element in this bathroom renovation Coogee is sure to impress guests for the rest of time.

As you are probably well aware, older homes are not without their flaws, such as clogged plumbing, gaps above door frames, and lights with a mind of their own. Even the best-kept heritage property can deteriorate with time, and certain sections may require more than a makeover.

For this vintage-inspired bathroom renovation Coogee, there was no need to be completely bound by the home’s architectural elements. So, some structural elements like the doors, windows, and ceilings were updated in all bathrooms as part of the bathroom renovation Coogee.

Although particularly in the downstairs bathroom, the design team felt removing the traditional structural features modernised the bathroom a bit too much. So, to balance out these modern structural upgrades in the Coogee bathroom renovation, the design team selected vintage-looking bathroom installations that mimic the era when the home was built.

In particular, both vanities in the downstairs bathrooms have a powerful vintage appeal with classic tapware, clawfoot features and antique vanity nobs that perfect match the home’s date of construction.

Both downstairs bathrooms in this bathroom renovation Coogee are not overpowered by the vintage aesthetic, as the colour palette was cleverly utilised. Using the colour palette to tone down the vintage aesthetics in a bathroom renovation is an excellent idea. As in this bathroom renovation Coogee the light blue was used for wall paint, towels, and other accessories to lighten the space and give it a more modern feel.

When the original homes in Sydney were being constructed, glass and heating was a considerable expense. As a result, many historic homes were built with small windows so homeowners could save on electricity.

This bathroom renovation Coogee was no exception! The home has very small windows, with some rooms having no windows at all, which resulted in very little natural light. So, in the upstairs bathroom renovation Coogee, the Novalé labours installed a skylight above the tub to add extra light, circulation and making the perfect spot for indoor plants.

Each of the three bathrooms in this bathroom renovation Coogee seamlessly connect throughout the home as each of the spaces incorporate the same two vintage materials.

The first is marble stone, which is utilised in various applications from floor tiles, wall tiles, and vanity tops. The classic and beautiful veining of marble is a no-brainer for vintage-inspired bathrooms and also adds value to the home! No matter the form, natural stone looks impressive throughout the Coogee bathroom renovation.

In addition, all three-bathroom renovations Coogee use matching chrome tapware. Although gold metals are a good option for a vintage-inspired renovation, chrome is still the number one tapware choice in terms of practicality. The use of silver metals makes this bathroom renovation Coogee easier to clean and maintain, with strong resistance to scratches and fingerprints for many years to come.

How to Get a High-End Bathroom Renovation on a Budget

A glam and luxe bathroom renovation is not so out-of-reach with a tight budget. We take pride in our high-end bathroom renovations with flexible pricing arrangements catering to the budget needs of our clients.

Novalé offers pricing models that can be made more affordable or extravagant depending on the clients’ needs, but either way, the pricing does not sacrifice our overall quality.

While first and foremost, we provide a fixed renovation quote, so you can remain assured no hidden costs will pop up. Each renovation is still a bespoke design that is customised to suit the specific measurements of your space. So, homeowners should note that the cost of a bathroom renovation depends on many considerations; some include:

The size and ideal layout of the bathroom. The scope of the building works, which refers to the hiring hours of tradespeople, who run the plumbing, draining, tiling, electrical, gas fitting and all other renovation services required. The fittings and fixtures selected, refers to the number of old items being replaced in the bathroom, such as sinks, tapware, cabinetry styles, finishes, tiles, paint colours, lighting and much more. The dwelling type of your home. Is it full brick or fibro? Is it a single or double-storey or an apartment? What is the access to the bathroom like etc.?

Bathroom renovations are one of the most effective ways to increase your property’s value, which is why we aim to make everyone’s dream bathroom possible by offering ‘Standard’ and ‘Superior’ pricing ranges, to satisfy a range of budgets and aesthetics.

Standard Modern Bathroom Design Tips

If you’re looking to spend between $17,000 and $25,000 to transform your tired, old bathroom into a gorgeous and functional space, then your project will fall into Novalé’s ‘Standard’ pricing range. Although every modern bathroom design comes in various costs and sizes, so get in touch with Novalé today for a quotation tailored to your bathroom renovation ideas and desires.

Bathroom renovation designs with a smaller budget are all about creating luxury through little touches; this can be achieved by investing in one or two more expensive hero pieces.

When choosing to spend your budget, functional options which suit your family’s needs should be prioritised. For example, invest in a statement vanity with lots of smart storage for a big family, or invest in double sinks for a master ensuite. The planning stage of a bathroom renovation idea is fundamental to avoid over or under spending down the track.

It is crucial for a quality and affordable bathroom renovation idea to consider what can stay before undertaking the renovation. A considerable amount of a budget can be saved if quality bathroom items are kept, allowing for more flexibility to replace and update other elements. Notably, the existing placement of plumbing and electrical structures should be kept the same to give the homeowners more flexibility to afford more expensive fixtures, accessories and tapware.

Superior Modern Bathroom Design Tips

Novalé’s ‘Superior’ pricing range caters to those that desire a greater sense of opulence in their bathroom, and are able to spend between $25,000 and $35,000. However, every modern bathroom design is bespoke, so get in touch with a Novalé Customer Service Consultant today. Get a detailed quotation for your dream bathroom renovation idea and ensure you fully understand all aspects of the quote and the bathroom renovation process.

In more detailed bathroom renovations, there is more shopping required. Selecting products from the same brand will also make your bathroom renovation easier, as the styles and colours will match up exactly, and all products will have the same warranties. So, if something goes wrong, the solution is more straightforward when dealing with one company.

Creating a Timeless Aesthetic in Your Bathroom

Creating a Timeless Aesthetic in Your Bathroom

A timeless interior achieves a sophisticated feeling with curated styling, but simultaneously feels inviting with a homely and simple aesthetic. A homes laundry and bathroom needs longevity and durability, but what colours are timeless? What materials can withstand daily wear and tear? Can décor be aesthetically timeless? Novalé reveals our ultimate secrets to creating a timeless looking bathroom renovation.

The secret algorithm to achieve the perfect balance starts with a simple base. With plain cabinetry, tiles, fixtures and neutral palettes, homeowners are then free to add dramatic, minimal or personal styling on top.

“Don’t be afraid to be bold with your design choices. You can create any number of looks if you start with a simple grey or white cabinetry as your base – then accessorise creatively,” says Neale Whitaker one of Australia’s foremost style gurus. Learn more about modern Bathroom Renovation Trends According to the Block 2020, many of which inspires Novalé modern bathroom renovations.

Timeless Tiles: Marble

Marble is a natural stone that can be cut into a range of shapes. Natural stone is entirely unique as no two pieces are cut alike, meaning marble tiles have varying tones and patterns.

Aesthetically, the look of a marble title has a white background with some light or sometimes dark grey veining throughout the stone. As the stone’s base is white, it’s hard to go wrong when trying to achieve a minimalist and timeless colour scheme. Marble is a title of pure sophistication and sheer luxurious beauty, creating a warm feeling in any ordinary space.

Carrara marble is the most popular variety of marble titles, named after its origin; this stone is quarried from the city of Carrara in Tuscany, Italy. Although, if you are looking for a cheaper and a lower maintenance title, some alternate stones can simulate the same look as marble, for example, porcelain.

These days with so many technological advancements, it is hard to tell the difference between a manufactured marble stone and a natural marble. Besides, manufactured stone provides many more benefits such as high resistance to liquids, stains, scratches and heat.

Timeless Tapware and Accessories

Fixtures are a great way to add a feature colour and a warm texture into your bathroom or laundry space. However, the key to timeless looking tapware is unified colours. Whatever colour you choose, make sure the fittings, accessories and even the towels rails match together, to achieve a cohesive but striking aesthetic for your bathroom renovation.

Although matte black, copper and gold metals have become a modern trend for bathroom tapware and accessories, chrome is still Australia’s number one choice for a timeless bathroom renovation.

The continued appeal of chrome is based on practicality, as silver metal is easier to clean and maintain, with strong resistance to scratches and fingerprints. Aesthetically chrome’s silver colour and shiny texture will seamlessly fit into any bathroom’s style and palette. Chrome tapware is such a popular choice that you would be hard-pressed to find a design that isn’t available in its shiny finish.

Timeless Colour Palettes: Monochromatic

A monochromatic colour palette takes one colour and adds varying degrees of black, white and grey into the mix, to create a varied range of tones to use through a space. Interior designers refer to this colour palette as the best way to achieve a minimalistic and timeless design while maintaining some sort of interest through tonal accents.

For your next timeless bathroom renovation, simply mix marble tiles with matching chrome tapware and accessories for an elegant but straightforward monochromatic aesthetic. Sure to impress guests for the test of time whilst allowing for flexibility and elaborate styling. Don’t just take our word on it, check out Novale’s recent Bathroom Renovations Sydney to get inspired for your next timeless bathroom renovation.

Timeless Styling and Décor

While some colours and materials can be ‘stylish’ no matter the year, timeless décor is more complicated. Most might disagree, but décor cannot always be timeless. However, functional items will always be in style, such as plants, candles, and sentimental family objects like photos and homemade art.

Hence why the minimalist base is the key to making a room feel fresh and updated for a long time. As a homeowner develops new styles; they can easily change the décor of their bathroom rather than having to renovate the entire space because they can no longer stand the thought of a lime green bathroom.

For example, any type of styling will match well with white marble tiles and chrome fixtures, from bold 70s décor, your Grandmas kitschy vase and everything in between. Remember “If you’re looking at being a bit more adventurous and a bit more decorative in the bathroom, then my best advice is a little goes a long way” according to Neale Whitaker.

Start Your Ageless Bathroom Renovation Today

No matter if you are looking for bathroom renovators for a large bathroom in Newcastle, or a small bathroom renovation in Alexandria Novale’s highly experienced teams are available to help you produce a beautiful and highly functional contemporary bathroom design.

If you are beginning to research bathroom renovators for your new bathroom renovation project, consider including Novalé Bathrooms in your shortlist. Japandi Bathroom Ideas and Inspiration

Japandi Bathroom Ideas and Inspiration

>In this article, we talk about the latest trend to hit the world of bathroom interiors and all the Japandi bathroom ideas and inspiration you’ll ever need.

If you’re new to Japandi interiors, then get ready, because after reading this article you will be fully converted to Japan’s and Scandi’s new love child.

*Disclaimer* We can not be held responsible for the overwhelming feeling of needing to re-decorate.

What is Japandi?

Japandi is an interior hybrid that blends Japanese and Scandinavian styles. Influenced by the ancient Japanese idea of Wasbi-sabi, an aesthetic that appreciates beauty is ‘imperfect, impermanent and incomplete’. Japandi also inherits the comfort and cosiness of ‘Hygge’ from Danish culture.

Together, forming a gorgeous yet minimal bathroom interior style we can’t get enough of, with an emphasis on finding beauty in simplicity.

How Do I Create a Japandi Inspired Bathrooms?

In order to create this new interior fusion, there are some key elements you need to consider. Form and function are a must when designing your new Japandi space.

To achieve a Japandi bathroom you need these six key elements:

Lavish texturesLow key lightingMinimal accessoriesNatural material particularly rustic elementsEarthy colour paletteClean and clear design

Now we know what ingredients we need to create the most perfect Japandi space, let’s take a look at the different concepts for your bathroom, cloakroom or en-suite.

Dark Japandi Bathroom

In this Japandi inspired bathroom, they have used their space expertly. Using dark textured walls and floor to create a natural stone like base. Pair your dark walls with a touch of rusticity to achieve a stark contrast, with a parting panel wall. This will nicely spilt the room whilst maintaining a beautiful open space.

Milano Stamford Washstand and basin

Milano Clarus - Mono Basin Tap

Milano Elizabeth Bathroom Mirror

Opting for clean lines and minimal accessories is two of the many components that makes this a beautiful Japandi space. When it comes to creating a dark Japandi style, including dark wood /oak vanity units is a great way to introduce a variety of textures.

Light and Minimal Japandi Bathroom

Light and minimal allows you to layer textures whilst keeping the room super simple and airy. Use crisp white walls to keep things looking clean, just as a Danish designer would. Add interest to your space with natural textures, and floating furniture. Remember less is ALWAYS more.

Milano Lurus - Floating Shelf and Countertop Basin

Milano Mirage - Wall Mounted Round Basin Mixer Tap

The key here is to avoid over cluttering with too many accessories, keep everything as minimal as possible.

Your space should be as light as possible, try your best to keep as much natural light as possible. If this isn’t a do-able, opt for sleek lighting. Something that will keep your bathroom looking simple and soft, if you really want to emphasis the Japanese aesthetic, opt for symmetrical lights on either side of your mirror.

Monochrome Japandi Bathroom Suite

Not a fan of colour, no matter how subtle? Don’t worry, you can always go for a monochrome Japandi space. One of the staple features of Japandi design is contrast; therefore, choosing this yin and yang colour scheme will maintain the perfect balance.

Milano Nero - Wall Mounted Tap

If you’re lacking colour, remember plants are your friend and should be used in large quantities to add biophilic touches.

Remember, texture is everything! – mix marble with fluted tiles, matt walls with textured floors. Go the extra monochrome mile with black brassware instead of chrome.

Bright and Open Japandi En-suite

Keep things calm and open with a neutral colours, for a calming tranquil space. Windows are a brilliant way to allow natural light to flow – so the bigger the better!

When it comes to your bathroom layout think minimal and open. This particularly applies to the shower. Try to avoid enclosures and welcome walk-in showers or any frameless structure. This will create the illusion of more space and avoid the feeling of being ‘caged in’.

Milano Nero - black thermostatic shower with recessed shower head

Milano Nero - Wet Room Screen

Bright and open Japandi spaces are all about exposure. Exposing as much light as you can whether that’s natural light or artificial is a great way to boost mood and set the scene for a calm atmosphere.

Again, use rustic elements to add warmth and a natural touch. Paneling and wooden shelves work well for the basin area and don’t forget about keeping your furniture soft and round, for true Japanese style. We recommend a countertop basin to finish off the look.

Colourful Japandi Bathroom

One for the colour lovers – if you need that pop of vibrance, feel free to introduce soft soothing pastels. To achieve Japanese minimalism, keep furniture minimal, accents black and add your colour through paint, fluted tiles or on your minimal accessories.

If that isn’t enough, introduce colour through your ceramics. Soft pinks, blues and greens look fabulous in countertops basins or vanity units.

Milano Overton - Freestanding Bath

Milano Indus - Heated Towel Ladder Rail

Industrial Japandi

Use a round freestanding bathtub as your focal point, pair with contrasting black taps in a beautiful matt black for an extra luxury touch.

Milano Irwell Freestanding Bath Tub

Milano Nero - Freestanding Bath Tap

Incorporate the industrial vibes through raw and unkept walls. Limewash paint is a great way to achieve an imperfect look, ideal for an industrial feel.

Accompanied by pendant lighting and a floor standing ladder heated towel rail, that lets out warmth and enriches the style of your bathroom.

And that’s a wrap, we hope you enjoyed this Japanese and Scandinavian style guide and we have given you enough Japandi bathroom ideas and inspiration to turn you into an Japandi interior expert.

A DIY Bathroom Makeover Versus a Professional Remodeling Contractor

A DIY Bathroom Makeover Versus a Professional Remodeling Contractor
remodeling

According to Remodeling Magazine, the average American household’s average remodeling project costs is over six thousand dollars. As such, it seems that any potential homeowner would be wise to invest in improving their homes before they spend all the money required for a complete remodeling job. According to the magazine, a full renovation of a typical bathroom is worth an estimated eight hundred thousand dollars. In other words, a simple remodeling job can turn an outdated bathroom into a valuable piece of real estate. However, the magazine notes that this investment will almost certainly increase the sale value of your property by an average of fourteen thousand dollars.

But in the great outdoors, where homes are exposed to all kinds of weather, a full remodeling job may not always translate into big bucks. And where there is less money to spend, there is also less risk. While demolition and extensive remodeling require more materials and a higher initial cost, these options often yield better results and lower costs. For instance, if a homeowner opts for simple caulk and drywall repairs to replace shower and bathtub walls, a bathroom fixtures kit may be the way to go.

In fact, most do-it-yourself (DIY) bathroom projects are rather inexpensive. A simple plumbing repair, for example, can cost as little as ten dollars. However, such do-it-yourself projects require a bit more time and effort. If a homeowner does not feel confident about tackling a bathroom remodel on his own, a do-it-yourself handyman can sometimes handle the work in a fraction of the time and save both time and money. This is especially true if the bathroom fixtures and accessories are simple, such as a toilet that has a dual or triple pull-cord release.

Another option for modest remodeling is a simple paint job. Although a tile tub is considered a “women’s bathroom remodeling” item, men can also enjoy this kind of makeover. Just like with a tile tub, a simple paint job will add instant sex appeal to a bathroom. This option is less costly than other bathroom remodeling projects. However, it requires the same amount of skill as other more complicated jobs, such as a bathroom remodeling job that involves tearing out and replacing flooring or installing a new shower stall. If this does not sound like a big deal to you, a do-it-yourself project may be just what you need.

Most homeowners know how to remove wallpaper, have knowledge of how to install cabinetry and use tools like a jigsaw. Yet a bathroom remodeling process is much different than a typical paint job or wallpaper installation. Bathroom remodeling projects can be complex because the bathroom is used by many people, often multiple persons at a time. A bathroom remodeling process may include replacing fixtures, changing showerheads, installing new flooring, adding new toilets, installing a new tub or replacement showerhead, installing new countertops, new flooring, installing new tile flooring, adding new mirrors, etc. Thus, a bathroom remodeling process can be very time-consuming.

A DIY bathroom makeover, on the other hand, would only take a few hours and may include several of the previously mentioned tasks. For instance, replacing a toilet could be done using a plumbing kit, but doing a tile job or installing cabinetry in the bathroom could require a plumber. Replacing a toilet and all the fixtures in the bathroom may be done using only a hardware store screwdriver set while doing a tile job or installing a new tub and showerhead using a tile kit.

Furthermore, a bathroom remodeling project can include demolition of an existing bathroom vanity, installation of a new vanity, installation of new plumbing and new tub and shower head, or installation of new flooring, etc. In addition, demolition may also be required in order to bring a bathroom to a current state of disarray. For instance, if a vanity cabinet fell down, a contractor may need to tear it down, remove the contents and relocate them elsewhere in the house.

In order to save money on demolition and plumbing expenses, most homeowners hire a contractor who is experienced in remodeling works. A qualified contractor will have a list of companies he deals with on a regular basis. When you contact such a contractor, he will discuss your current situation and see if he can free up some of your time to perform remodeling work. If you are interested in having some of your old, outdated fixtures replaced with newer ones, a contractor can suggest an array of choices. Moreover, if you want to have some electrical work done in your bathroom, an experienced contractor will have everything he needs in order to do the electrical work himself.
